“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art—write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”
Sure, I quoted this last year, but the point remains: be good, kids. Love yourselves and everyone else just a little bit more this year. Wallow in gladness. Have an adventure. And I’ll try to, too.

Rachel

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!
I didn’t have access to a scanner yesterday, so it’s a day late (and the proverbial dollar short), but my brother turned 16 yesterday. Happy Birthday, Rob! You’ll always be Robby to me.

Okay. Maybe I’m a little punch drunk from all these deadlines, but I think this is hilarious.
I’ve been to the post office just about every day for the last week to mail off all my application materials. And when Anna, my postal comrade in arms, inevitably asks me, “Does this package contain anything fragile, liquid, perishable, or potentially hazardous?” I inevitably reply, “Only my hopes of getting into a graduate program!”
And God bless her, Anna laughs every time. Every time.
