proceed with caution

The brilliant person in Austin who hacked a few construction signs must have been reading my mind—and if not my mind, he’s at least reading the same book I’ve been: World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War has got me thinking once more about our (being 21st century American) cultural fascination with zombies.

Okay, kids. I hear you. I’ve been a terrible blogger.

I had a good excuse not to be around for a while, but that been done gone. And yet still, the blog exists, unupdated, week after week. With each passing hour, the pressure to break the silence grows. On the one hand, I know I have to update. On the other hand, I knew that in order to truly be better at this, it had to be a Truly Epic Post, not just a weenie post or a YouTube video, a habit into which I’ve fallen, according to my dad (YEAH, DAD, I CALLED YOU OUT ON MY BLOG!).

So the pressure, it compounds, not only to suck less and finally post, but to post something INTERESTING and ENGAGING and possibly involving ZOMBIES.

Zombies are on the way (in the blog again, not, like, literally…I HOPE), but in the meantime, I’ve decided to return to the most basic writing philosophy: write what you know. And this is what I know today (click to bigafy):

pants

I am currently hovering around Day Five; my train is stationed in Poochytown as far as the front of the jeans are concerned, and I will be abandoning them in the hamper tonight to prevent the situation from getting any worse.

Mea culpa. More on the way. Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Of Thee I Sing

Hail to the Chief

“We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.”
